Digital Imaging is an all encompassing term that is synonymous with imagination.

It can be as simple as imagining that in your photograph you have clear skin or whiter teeth or the glare in your glasses is gone. It can be wanting to look a little less old (age spots, wrinkles and bags). It can be imagining that your teeth are already out of the braces. It can be imaging the perfect new baby announcement and creating it or the perfect Christmas cards. It can be imagining that your photograph is black & white but has some elements of color. Or it can be as wildly intriguing as thinking their are several of you in one photograph. It can help you create the perfect picture where everyone in the family is there even though you can't actually all get together at the same time.

In short, if you can imagine it there is a digital artist that can probably make it happen.
